From North:
Freeway A12 direction Genova-Livorno. Exit at Rosignano. Continue on the S.S Aurelia until exit Venturina – Isola d’Elba and from here continue to Piombino Marittima.

From North-Est:
Freeway A1 direction Bologna-Firenze-Pisa-Livorno, exit at Rosignano. Continue on the S.S Aurelia until exit Venturina-Isola d’Elba and from here continue to Piombino Marittima. In alternative: take the s.g.c. Firenze-Pisa-Livorno, exit at Firenze Signa and continue on the S.S (speedway) until Collesalvetti exit. Re-enter the highway and continue to Rosignano Marittimo and there, take the s.s to Venturina and therefore,from here continue to Piombino Marittima.

From South:
Freeway A12, direction Roma-Grosseto. S.S Aurelia exiting at Venturina-Isola d’Elba.Continue to Piombino Marittima.

The ferry

You can reach the island of Elba by car where on arrival to Piombino, four different shipping companies (Blu Navy, Toremar, Corsica Ferries andMoby Lines) offer comfortable ferry services that during the tourist season navigate hourly, on a daily basis.
In only one hour circa, the ferries cover the 10Km distance from the mainland arriving to the harbour of; Portoferraio, Rio Marina and Cavo. For a more rapid solution, a Hydrofoil service operates from Piombino to Portoferraio (via Cavo) in only 35mins. of navigation.
This service is available to passengers with car. If you are travelling by car we advice you to book the ferry ticket, especially during the week end. The harbor more comfortable to reach is Portoferraio. The distance from our hotel is less than 10 km.

“Low cost” ferry

From 2010, a new shipping company began making service on the route to Elba: The “Blue Navy.”
The Travel Agency “Ilva”, main reference for Hotel accommodations, reached an agreement with “Blue Navy” and the Hotel Capo Sud adhered.
This agreement consists in a fixed amount of tickets at “low cost” price (in case “low cost ” tickets are already sold out, the available rates are anyhow interesting).
Guests who book their stay directly with us (via e-mail or phone) can request a discount code for the purchasing of the ferry ticket for low cost price with Blunavy.
If you don’t have a credit card, you can send us the money by bank transfer, we will buy the ticket for you through agency ILVA and we’ll send you the ticket per e mail.
Please consider that choosing the bank deposit way of payment, the “low cost” tickets might be all sold out during the period that elapses between the request and the availability of bank credit in our favor. Further “Blue Navy” should change prices in the meanwhile.

Directions to Hotel Capo Sud

As you arrive in Portoferraio follow the sign “All directions”.
Than turn left to Porto Azzurro.
After about 800 mt. you’ll find a traffic lighters, turn right to “Lacona / Colle Reciso”. (Colle = hill)
As you arrive at the end of the descent of Colle Reciso you’ll find a minimarket and a bank in front of you. Turn left until a cross where you turn left again, direction Porto Azzurro/Capoliveri.
After about 400 mt on the right side you’ll find the road (Via Capo del Marinaro) to Hotel Capo Sud. If you need to take a taxi, ask the driver to go to “Colle Reciso”..it’s the shortest way!
